Steve Baker is Google Fellow and was previously a VP of Engineering at Google. He was the co-founder of Laserlike which made it easier for users to follow news on various topics (acquired by Apple in 2019). Prior to that, he was a Distinguished Engineer at Google, where he co-founded the world’s largest-scale open-domain algorithmic question-answering system (billions of answers a week at extremely low latency). He started at Google in 2003 as an intern after completing a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cornell University and was also a lead developer on the top two most important search ranking signals in Google search.
